JUSTINE WAHLIN
Visual Artist - Musican - Film Maker
Justine’s most recent paintings emerge from line drawings made directly in response to moving through the landscape. Transformed into imagined yet distinctly Australian abstract landscapes, sometimes figures and animals emerge, though these are open for interpretation. Using layered materials, her paintings balance frenetic energy and calm, reflecting nature’s soothing yet unordered and repeated rhythms.
Exhibition - NOV 3-9 - Duo Show: Justine and Willhemina Wahlin
‘WE LANDED HERE FROM SOMEWHERE’
Luna Gallery, 465, King St Newtown - Opening Night NOV 4th - 6pm
Sisters Justine and Willhemina have followed a winding road since early childhood. They have been longtime music collaborators and now in recent years they are aligning again, each exploring their fascination with place and origin through their visual arts practices.
Willie is a renowned digital designer who in recent years has turned her hand to print making. In this collection, she explores the impact of human marks on the landscape.
Justine is an emerging painter, fixated with finding the ethereal space between place, object and spirit.
“We Landed Here From Somewhere” will ask you to think about your own path to the present moment and how we impact the places we stand in.
